Cutting is half the job
Updated 2026-08-05
Cut Video for WhatsApp Status is built around one promise — precise cutting for Status — and it is the only app in our research with genuinely localized App Store listings, in German, Italian, Spanish and French. VividStatus makes the same cut and then fixes the frame and the encode before handing the parts to WhatsApp, which is the second half of the job its listing doesn’t claim.
VividStatus is an iPhone app that prepares photos and videos for WhatsApp Status: it fits them to the exact 9:16 frame, splits longer clips into ordered parts sized to what your WhatsApp actually accepts, and hands them to WhatsApp in one tap — entirely on device, with no watermark, no ads and no account.

What a clean cut still leaves behind
Cutting is a time operation. It changes where a clip starts and stops, and nothing else — the shape, the resolution and the bitrate that go into WhatsApp are the ones that came out of the camera.
That is fine for a clip you already shot vertically. It is not fine for anything else: a landscape or square clip stays landscape or square in every piece, so WhatsApp fits it into the 9:16 Status frame however it sees fit, and that is where heads get cropped and bars appear.
VividStatus settles the frame before the file leaves your phone, applies it to every part of the export, and writes each part to a target chosen for the route you post through. What it can’t settle is what happens after upload — WhatsApp decides the final encode, and no app on either side of this table changes that.
Where Cut Video is ahead
- Real localized listings — German, Italian, Spanish and French listings, written for those stores rather than translated at the last minute. Most of this category ships English everywhere.
- A track record on the cut — 4.7 stars from 249 US ratings on a single-job utility. It is not trying to be more than it is.
Switching questions
Does VividStatus cut as precisely?
You set the in and out points on a filmstrip trimmer, then choose whether to keep just that stretch or split the whole clip into ordered parts.
Is VividStatus available in my language?
The app and its App Store listing are localized in German, Italian, Spanish, French, Dutch and Turkish, alongside English.
Can I share the parts somewhere other than WhatsApp?
Yes — the system share sheet reaches any app on your iPhone. The one-tap hand-off is built for Status specifically.
