A repeatable method
Use this tool to understand how different encoding settings affect the amount of data in a video file before you start the export process. The result is an approximation based on a constant bitrate formula and does not account for the overhead from the file container or the variations that occur with a variable bitrate encode. The estimate is for the prepared file, not the final post after WhatsApp's processing.
Make the decision before exporting
To use the calculator, enter the total duration of the video in seconds, the target video bitrate in Mbps, and the audio bitrate in kbps. The tool combines these data rates and multiplies by the duration to produce an estimated file size in megabytes (MB). For instance, a 30-second clip with a 6 Mbps video stream and a 128 kbps audio stream is estimated to be about 23 MB.
Practical target
The calculation is successful when it helps you make an informed decision about your export settings. You can compare the estimate to the actual file size produced by your video editor to better understand how it encodes media. This planning step helps manage data usage and storage, but it does not predict any changes WhatsApp might make during its final upload and processing stages.
