Posting a square (1:1) photo to a vertical (9:16) format like WhatsApp Status requires a framing decision. To make the square image fill the entire tall screen, it must be enlarged, which crops content from the left and right sides. The alternative is to fit the whole square image within the frame, which preserves the photo but leaves empty space above and below it.
A repeatable method
