One tap from VividStatus into your Status

WhatsApp publishes an official Share-to-Status handoff for iOS apps: an app writes the media to a named pasteboard type and opens a WhatsApp link, and the Status composer opens with that media already loaded. VividStatus uses it, so getting a finished file into Status is one tap — no contact picker, no saving to Photos first, no hunting for the file again inside WhatsApp.
VividStatus is an iPhone app that prepares photos and videos for WhatsApp Status: it fits them to the exact 9:16 frame, splits longer clips into ordered parts sized to what your WhatsApp actually accepts, and hands them to WhatsApp in one tap — entirely on device, with no watermark, no ads and no account.
What the handoff is made of
- A named pasteboard type — The media is placed on the pasteboard under the identifier com.whatsapp.media-share-external.data — the type WhatsApp reads for this purpose, not a general-purpose copy of your file.
- A WhatsApp link that opens the composer — VividStatus then opens wa.me/media-share-external, which brings WhatsApp to the front with the Status composer already holding your media.
- You still press Send — The handoff opens the composer. It does not post for you. Nothing reaches your Status until you confirm it inside WhatsApp.
- A share-sheet fallback — If WhatsApp is not installed or the handoff does not take, VividStatus falls back to the normal iOS share sheet rather than dead-ending.
What one tap does not change
The handoff is about delivery, not compression. It gets your prepared file into the Status composer without detours — but the research reports that media arriving this way almost certainly goes through the same Status pipeline as anything else you pick from the gallery. WhatsApp decides the final encode after upload, and no delivery route we know of changes that.
It is also worth being clear about what iOS allows at all. No URL scheme, Shortcut or App Intent can drop a file into a WhatsApp chat or publish to Status on your behalf; whatsapp://send carries text only. One tap into a pre-loaded composer is the most direct route stock WhatsApp offers an outside app, which is why VividStatus spends its effort on the file rather than on promising automation that does not exist.
Since August 2025, WhatsApp for iOS has also carried a "My Status" target in the iOS share sheet. That works too, and it drops into the same Status editor — the one-tap route simply removes the sheet from the middle.
Delivery questions
Does VividStatus post to my Status by itself?
No. It opens the Status composer with your media loaded; you confirm and post inside WhatsApp. No app can publish to your Status without you.
Do I have to save to Photos first?
No. The handoff passes the prepared media to WhatsApp directly. Saving to your Photos library is a separate choice you can make if you want a copy.
Does the one-tap route improve the quality of my Status?
No, and we will not claim it does. It removes steps between your file and the composer. The quality work happens earlier, when the file is framed and encoded.
What happens with a video that was split into parts?
Each part is handed over the same way and posted in sequence, so viewers see them in order.
Does VividStatus read my chats or contacts?
No. The handoff is one-way: media out to the Status composer. VividStatus has no access to your conversations, contacts or phone number.
