No AI claims, just the file specs
Updated 2026-08-05
StatusHD Pro is an Android app, installed from an APK on its own site, and its pitch is an AI enhancement engine. VividStatus is an iPhone app that publishes what it encodes to instead of describing an engine — which matters twice over if you are on an iPhone, because the first difference is that StatusHD Pro won’t run on your phone at all.
VividStatus is an iPhone app that prepares photos and videos for WhatsApp Status: it fits them to the exact 9:16 frame, splits longer clips into ordered parts sized to what your WhatsApp actually accepts, and hands them to WhatsApp in one tap — entirely on device, with no watermark, no ads and no account.
Side by side
| StatusHD Pro | VividStatus | |
|---|---|---|
| Platform | Android — installed from an APK on its own site | iPhone — from the App Store |
| How the quality claim is made | An “advanced AI enhancement engine” whose “custom engine analyzes each frame” | Published encode specs — 1080×1920 at 6 Mbps for video, 1152×2048 for photos — and no AI claim |
| Split a long clip into ordered parts | Not described on its site as of August 2026 | Yes — numbered parts, sized to what your WhatsApp accepts |
| Exact 9:16 framing | Not described on its site | Smart crop, blurred bars or your own crop |
| Saving other people’s Status | Yes — its site describes one-click status downloads | No |
| Account required | No, per its site | No |
Why VividStatus describes a file instead of an engine
An engine story can’t be checked from the outside. You cannot tell whether an app analysed your frames or simply re-encoded them, and neither can we — which is exactly why VividStatus publishes numbers instead of adjectives: the resolution, the bitrate, the codec and the frame it writes for each delivery route.
Those numbers are what VividStatus encodes to: 1080×1920 at 6 Mbps for video, 8 Mbps when the footage is high-motion, and 1152×2048 at quality 0.90 for photos. We also measured the far end once, on 31 July 2026 — a direct Status post from a current build came back at roughly 1080p on the viewing side. That was a single device on Wi-Fi with HD auto-download in play, so it is a data point carrying its caveats, not a guarantee: WhatsApp still decides the final encode after upload.
The other reason to be careful with enhancement language: detail that compression removed is gone, and getting it back is invention rather than recovery. VividStatus aims at handing WhatsApp a file its pipeline treats well — not at claiming to undo what already happened to your clip.
What VividStatus doesn’t do
- No status saver — StatusHD Pro’s site describes saving Status posts to your device. VividStatus publishes yours; it doesn’t download anyone else’s.
- No HDR passthrough — Output is converted to standard sRGB colour, so HDR and wide-gamut source material is flattened.
- No Android build — VividStatus is iPhone only. If you are on Android, this page is a comparison, not a recommendation to switch phones.
Questions about the claims
Does VividStatus use AI?
No. Framing, scaling and encoding are ordinary, deterministic media operations. Nothing is generated or invented.
So can VividStatus make a blurry video sharp?
No app can restore detail the compression already removed. What VividStatus does is hand WhatsApp a file that suits its pipeline, so less is lost on the way in.
Where does the processing happen?
On your iPhone. VividStatus has no backend, no account, and nothing to upload your media to.
