A Clear Status alternative with no ads in the free tier
Updated 2026-08-05
Clear Status lists an ad-free experience among its Premium features, which means its free tier carries ads. VividStatus has no advertising in it at all, on any tier, so there is nothing to upgrade away from — and it covers the two things Clear Status’s listing doesn’t: exact 9:16 framing and splitting a long clip into ordered parts.
VividStatus is an iPhone app that prepares photos and videos for WhatsApp Status: it fits them to the exact 9:16 frame, splits longer clips into ordered parts sized to what your WhatsApp actually accepts, and hands them to WhatsApp in one tap — entirely on device, with no watermark, no ads and no account.
Side by side
| Clear Status | VividStatus | |
|---|---|---|
| Ads | Its listing sells an ad-free experience as a Premium unlock | No advertising on any tier |
| Split a long clip into parts | Not described in its listing | Yes — numbered parts, in order |
| Exact 9:16 framing | Not described in its listing | Smart crop, blurred bars or your own crop |
| The Forward route for best quality | Documented as a written step in its how-to | Guided in the app, with an export sized for that route |
| Rotate a photo or video | Yes — added in its July 2026 release notes | No — the iPhone Photos app already rotates |
| Saving other people’s Status | Not offered, per its listing | No |
Credit where it’s due: the Forward button
Clear Status is the only App Store listing in our research that tells people about the Forward route at all — its how-to ends by advising the Forward button rather than the Share button when posting a Status. That advice is correct, and most apps in this category never mention it.
The gap is what happens next. Clear Status leaves the route as a line of text; VividStatus walks you through it and sizes the export for it, so the file you forward is already the one that suits that path.
Neither route is a quality guarantee. WhatsApp decides the final encode after upload — what VividStatus publishes is what it encodes to, per route, and nothing more.
Where Clear Status is ahead
- Rotation — Its July 2026 release adds rotating photos and videos. VividStatus doesn’t, because the Photos app on your iPhone already does it.
- Photo to video — Its release notes describe generating videos up to 60 seconds in Full HD from stills. VividStatus prepares what you already shot; it doesn’t create clips.
Switching questions
Is the VividStatus free tier ad-supported?
No. There is no advertising anywhere in the app on any tier. Photos are free and your first video export is free; beyond that there is a paid unlock, priced by your local App Store.
Will my export carry a watermark?
No. VividStatus never watermarks an export, free or paid.
Do I still need the Forward trick?
Only if you want the maximum-quality route. The one-tap hand-off into Status is quicker; the guided Forward flow is there when the clip is worth the extra step.
